The Hospital Association of Rhode Island (HARI) is a statewide trade association that supports Rhode Island’s hospitals through advocacy, education, and industry leadership. To better understand and communicate the role hospitals play in the state’s economy, HARI engaged Silverlode Consulting to prepare an economic impact analysis. The study examined the direct, indirect, and induced economic effects of Rhode Island’s hospitals, including their operational activity, employment, construction investments, and broader contributions to communities across the state.
The report demonstrates that Rhode Island’s hospitals are not only essential providers of healthcare, but also major contributors to economic activity, employment, and tax revenue. HARI uses the study to highlight the value hospitals deliver beyond patient care, helping educate policymakers, stakeholders, and the public about the industry's importance to Rhode Island’s economy and communities. The findings provide credible, data-driven support for HARI’s advocacy efforts and help underscore the need for continued investment in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
