Economic Development Services
The Maumee Valley Planning Organization (MVPO) is a regional planning commission serving a five-county region in Northwest Ohio. MVPO was awarded a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to create a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). Silverlode was engaged by the MVPO to prepare the CEDS, which is a prerequisite to applying for the associated federal grants.
Silverlode initiated an ongoing community engagement process, conducted a regional background assessment, and analyzed economic development issues. We developed short and long-term economic and community development objectives, outlined action steps, and created a prioritized methodology for proposed capital projects in the region.
Silverlode's CEDS methodology includes the development of a target industry study (not required by the EDA) to identify industry sectors that would strengthen and diversify the MVPO region’s economic base. This study also identified key competitive and emerging industry sectors within the MVPO region.
MVPO received the CEDS certification from EDA and is currently applying for federal grants.
