Dan Bergrin brings to the team significant experience in the areas of real estate and tax credit finance and leads GBX Group’s Tax Credit Consulting team. During his tenure at GBX, Dan has been involved in the structuring and execution of dozens of transactions resulting in the deployment of hundreds of millions of dollars in tax-advantaged investments. He is a regular speaker on the topics of historic tax credit finance, economic development, and opportunity zone investments.
Prior to joining GBX, Dan practiced as a tax attorney at a boutique transactional law firm specializing in the structuring and execution of private equity real estate transactions, including New Markets and Historic Tax Credit transactions. He also assisted clients in tax planning, compliance, and controversy with Federal and State tax authorities.
Dan is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Tax Club of Cleveland. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Restoration Society.
Dan received his Master of Laws in Taxation from Northwestern University and his Juris Doctorate at Chicago-Kent College of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is admitted to practice law in Ohio and Illinois.
